Does anyone know anyone around the Durham Apex Chapel Hill area that sells Top Soil by the dumptruck load for a good price?? I need a name and # of places to contact and get prices on a big job I am contracting and overseeing. Thanks.

PS. Anyone see any places ort know of friends who own a place like this please post. Thanks!

I think so.... there is a place called "(something) and soils."(sorry I can not remember the name) they are located on Fletcher chapel rd in Durham. Going down fletcher chapel toward hwy 70. you pass a really sharp turn, then pass a turn off toward mineral springs. they are the first or 2nd drive on your left, maybe someone Else knows the name so you can call them to make sure

It never hurts to stop and ask but...
If you need alot just look for a construction site with a big pile. They have to bury it now days to get rid of it. That's alot more expensive than giving it away but time is the key.
Anybody in Raleigh / Cary can get topsoil at the new Crossroads site right now.
They usually stockpile the topsoil until everything is graded and dirt is equalled out before they dispose of it. They are experimenting with mixing it with lime now days but that's costly as well. There is no good answer for Developers on getting rid of topsoil. It is considered a nuissance. There's areas in North Durham that have been scraping 18 inches. Add that up on a large site!

Topsoil

I have a few friends out of state that can hook you up. You say you're going oversee's with it? I wouldn't suggest purchasing it in Central Carolina though. It'll cost you a whole lot to get it to a shipping yard. If it is going oversee's I guess you're barging it. You might want to check with the municipalities there. They might not let you bring in soils from other continents. The US is real funny about it. Flower, peat moss, and other items from oversee's need to get examined.

If you are really in need of large quantities let me know. I have the right sources but wont disclose through a forum. PM me.

lol. just a guess, but I don't think "overseeing" means shipping it overseas.

oversee /= oversea

I feel like a dumb ass!!! LOL. I guess a 12 pack of beer last night did my brain in. :shaking: Try this link. http://www.yellowpages.com/Durham-NC/Topsoil?From=qpiCityState
Damn cant believe how dumb I can be sometimes!!!!

Ha. At least you're cool about it.

Fwiw, I don't believe that you're overseeing some large construction project but don't know of anyone or anywhere to get fill dirt from...

House sized boulders? No problem. Insane rock buggy? No problem. Dirt?

:stupid:

Dude any dump truck or hauling service will haul fill dirt.

if you are unable to locate a service to haul fill dirt, I feel for whoever hired you to oversee a large construction project

Depending on how soon your needing it I can probably hook you up. A golf course here in town is redoing the entire course. 16Mill being spent. My company so far has hauled off everything they have done on there smaller projects. RIght now the course is waiting to get the permits straightened out before they start remodeling the course. Basically all they do is rake off the old grass and a layer of topsoil and replace it.
