where to get a axle staightned

depending on were bent i bet its no good.

best part it out and buy another or a good used housing and swap over.

got a pic of how bad it is? im thinkin sweetk30 is right, might just cause more problems down the road.
i imagine it takes a lot to bend one, how did it happen?

ECGS probably.

If you've got a press and some alignment pucks, you can give it a try yourself.

It's easy, use a laser level, a 20 ton bottle jack, torch, and 2 lengths of chain. Weld the chain to the bottom of the bottle jack and to the ends of the axle tubes, preload the axle then use a rose bud to heat the bent area. Use a laser level to confirm the straightness-then go 1/4" past straight for the spring back of the tube.

Things get a little trickier when the tubes are bent and twisted but it's possible to straighten that too, at that point it's all where you weld the chain on the axle tube.

It takes some time, but I fixed a 9" housing that was bent backward at the housing and twisted 1/3 the way from the axle flanges.

I second the alignment bar especially if it's a rear axle and if it's going to be street driven.

There used to be a large truck shop in Greensboro out on Bishop Rd (I85/Groometown Rd area) that did that. I had a CJ axle straightened there @ 20 years ago :) Statewide Trailer Repair I think.

So if you're just checking it seems to me that you could easily check the straightness of the tubes with a laser level and call it a day. If you check it, rotate it 90 degrees and then check it again that should do the trick.

id drive it like you stole it and say F**K it! lol
