I am going to the beach on the 22nd and going camping... Now i know about the North end of Carolina Beach, Freeman Park.. But its so short and i dont really feel like paying $20 to camp there then pay another $10 to go down to Fort Fisher... I wanted to do more beaching driving and Freeman Park is just too short for me. Is there any place else to camp on the beach anywhere down the coast? I heard of a place where there was a lot more off roading with wild horses that run around more north... idk what its called.. nor if you can camp.

Much appreciated

I'm guessing you mean Corolla or maybe even Ocracoke Island, as far as there being horses. You can drive on both beaches, at least in places where it isn't roped off (more likely on Ocracoke) because of bird or turtle nests. Depending on how much you want to do (restaurants, groceries) when you aren't driving/camping, the northern OBX have more 'stuff'. Ocracoke is a tiny island village with very few options but that's not a big deal for some. If you're looking for something totally primitive, farther south are the Core Banks, but you have to hire a private ferry and it will cost you a lot more than $20 or $30.

There's also this link, I think it lives in the "where to go wheeling" info.
