I bought my kids a parakeet and it bit the XXXX out of them and then died shortly thereafter.
I then took a buddys advice and got them some bantys. They are sweet, easy to raise and cheap. They also come runnin at dinner time and can be handled.Who knew?

as long as none of them are roosters, he's golden. my mom got a few chickens a few months ago, you'd be surprised how entertaining they can be to watch in the yard while eating dinner.

especially if you guys chased one before dinner with an axe....I cant have chickens, cows, and pigs. I get hungry to often. I tried raising a chicken when i was younger from an egg. After about about three monthes.........ate it:popcorn:

That is just funny.

My sister had a rooster that was eaten by the dog she had saved. The real funny part is the dog ate it on X-mas day; I guess it annoyed the dog just as much it did me while I lived there.

Right now we have 3 roosters and 7 hens(bantys) and 2 RI reds. They are cool to watch. We just sit and watch them, but the kids are constantly trying to corner one. Both times we bought bantys the kids had to have BK's chicken fries.Seems to calm everyone.Chiken run the movie is pretty good too.I've had to watch it many times.

Not sure about the parakeet...My three year old boy is pretty vengeful though?

Just added three featherfoot(cochin) hens and a rooster. He has humped every chicken he can overpower.Even little banty hens that are too young to mate.He also bites their necks and ruffles a lot of feathers.
