Eagle Scout here.
Finished up about 2 days before my 18th birthday, the actual ceremony was a little later, combined w/ another fellow scout who got his around the same time.
I even went back and spent a little time as an ast scoutmaster helping out during the following summers off from college.
I was a kid scout made it to first class and caught a case of the fumes(gas fumes and per fumes) at 16 and now I am attempting to be an adult leader, and teach wood skills and citizenship to a new generation.
aged out at 18. had all my requirements for eagle, had my project planned and set in motion. my scoutmaster did not think i deserved eagle due to poor attendance. the fact of the matter was i was in the marching band all 4 years of high school, and we were forced to take that very seriously. i made it to scout meetings/outings when i could, but i suppose it wasn't good enough.
I made Eagle Scout right before the fumes grabbed hold of me and I grabbed hold of some cold 's...
Cub Scout too, Order of the Arrow, never in Explorers, but did some cool stuff at their camps...Rope Bridges, obstacle courses, kayakin', rappelling, rock climbing, water skiing, etc...
Eagle Scout two days before my 18th Birthday too. Glad to see there are other procrastinators out there! Ha ha.. I guess you could say I was an Eagle w/ honors (highest amount of badges, order of the arrow and so on). I stopped after that cause I was chasing too many skirts.
Apparently Eagle helps in getting jobs. I always put it on my resumes since I have nothing else to show for myself.
I was a boy scout, was gonna make Eagle, dad's garage got broke into all the stuff stolen to be able to do my Eagle project, and it came down to do I want a job or Boy Scouts
Yeah I did the Order of the Arrow induction, sleeping outside then a day of work w/ limited food crap.... grrr. I came home from college for that... never did naything w/ OoA afterwards LOL. Too busy enjoying college.
Eagle Scout is the only thing on my CV that is non-aceademic/job related and pre-college.
I was a boy scout. Got to 2nd class or so before I got bored with it. Or maybe it was lazy... I was mostly in it for the camp outs and stuff, not so much for the ranks.
I made it to First Class at 16, then totaled my moms car, thus starting my working career to buy myself some transportation. I just sort of drifted away from scouting after that, but I still consider my years in scouting to be time extremely well spent. I learned a lot, much of which I still use to this day. I'm really looking forward to getting my son into scouting when the time is right.
