I don't care that they refunded the money. If someone steals cycles on my computer to do activities that I do not wish to happen, then they are hacking. That's exactly what amazon has done.

Do NOT buy a Kindle. Spend a bit of money on a linux based e-note book and get ass tons of FREE stuff from project gutenberg.

This is the eighth or ninth bullshit Kindle story I've read. People don't understand that when they "buy" a book for their Kindle, they're not really buying anything. They're renting the ability to read it for a while from Amazon. It's the same thing as "buying" DRM'd music from iTunes.

I've seen several books that were more expensive in electronic form than physical, too.

Yeah, I don't have any plans to buy an iPhone, Kindle, or any iTunes until they clear this crap up.

LOVE mine... don't think it has been attached to my computer at all or not more than once. Everything comes in via 3G network which is the "killer app" for me.

Finished up the novel I was reading while on the beach last month. Normally I would be out of luck until I hit a bookstore. Instead, "dialed" in and had the next book in the series 2 minutes later.

Another HUGE deal for me, I read lots of stuff that are in series, I HATE it when the bookstore has say, 1 and 3 in the series... but with the Kindle they are never "out"!!

I started one yesterday that I have been watching for a couple years but my local bookstore never had the whole triology in stock. Reminded me when I saw #3 in store the other night, went home and wahlah, got #1 in my kindle and started reading right away.

I read 1-2 books a week, saving $2-3ish each on paperbacks, my kindle will pay for itself in 100 books or so. (If you dont count driving to BN and back 1/2 dozen times as well...)
