Gettin a 2000 wrangler that needs a motor. I know there are some changes that happened to the 4.0 around this time, an I put any 4.0 from a 91 and up cherokee/grand in it as long as I use the 2000 accesories and wiring? Thanks:beer:

Well if its not going to be street legal, Than yes.

I believe in 02 they went to the electronic firing on the plugs. So I believe the 00 still had a distributor, If so then yes. Transmissions changed in the XJs somewhere in the 90s so becarefull on the spline counts. The 00 will have a 23 spline trans.

It would be easier to find one from a 96 or newer.

You ought to be able to swap the distributor for the Cam Position sensor and reuse the manifolds off the '00 engine and put it in.. Should work just fine.. I don't see how spline counts on the transmission matter in swapping engines? Reuse all external stuff off the '00 engine and drop it in.. I don't see anything that really changed all that much except for manifold and the ignition rail (if that indeed did change, but i thought that happened in '99-'00 on cherokees)

Sort of what I was thinking but not sure, tranny should not matter, since its motor swap only. Main question was whetther or not I can take the "distributerless thingy" and put it on the old motor?

yeah you ought be able to.. just make sure old engine is at TDC #1 when you pull distrib and align new sensor to TDC #1 and line up oil pump tangs and drop it in..
