No!

So basically the government is a silent partner and GM will still run things....right back into the ground. They are gonna sell cars on ebay. This is gonna be like Ray Charles teaching Stevie Wonder how to drive.

We don't buy brand new cars anyway so it don't mean jack to me either way.If GM was serious about sellin cars they would come off the price of their cars/trucks.They can't make me beleive it cost them 58K to build/sell a new Tahoe.I refuse to but any vehicle that cost more a month than my house payment. That's why my old PSD has 370K on it.

Maybe, but it would be a real stretch considering the newest GM I have is my 84 Blazer.:D

In all of that article I did not see "and GM will cease to let the UAW uphold ridiculous wages and benefits". So since they will still have a crap ton of union workers the ship will still sink. Good job idiots.

Never have, never will. They're just too cheap and crappy feeling. And the F'in SUCK A$$ to work on. Not build to be serviced in any way, shape or form.

I heard Delorean Motor Co. was bought by a company in texas and there is a remake of the DMC-12 in the works.

The company started out foreign owned (irish) but over the past 20 years has changed hands and is now 100% american.

and if you have $100k to spend, the tesla roadster is cool as hell.

point is, this crap with government motors may be a good thing. sucks for the GM loyalist but it is going to open the door for the smaller companies who are looking for a new car but doesnt want the same old companies.

Did you know they still made duesenbergs until 2000!
and studebaker and GM fought it out over design rights to the H3.
you dont have to buy big three to buy american.

Also, if it bothers you that some car companies are going out of business, click this link.

this is a list of all the car manufacturers that have gone out of business in the united states.

Buy a GM? Hell no. Anybody who thinks that the government is really going to be a "silent partner" is just fooling themselves. They are going to push GM into their politically motivated agendas. They're going to accelerate the obsolescence of vehicles they don't approve of by hacking parts availability, and they're going to push GM into making even more cars that the public just isn't interested in buying. It's a real recipe for failure.

I bought an HHR before the bailout. It's the first GM product I've ever owned. Never much cared for GM vehicles and, well... after having this car, I confirmed my loathing and I'll never own another GM. Gov't involvement or not.

I worked on my grandma's 1992 Oldsmobile 88 Royale today. Sure its 17 y/o, but it only has 115k miles and its had problems about every 5k miles since it hit 50k. Today was the ignition module. Great, its on top of the engine, easy to get to, right....?????

Well, its held on by 5.5mm bolts. 6 of them, 3 of which you can't get anything but a socket on. Of course a 5.5mm socket can't be that hard to find, right? Well, Lowes, PepBoys, and AdvanceAuto don't have it, and the Northern Tool in Gastonia closed a couple months ago...
Fortunately an E8 external torx fits it. But the bolt that holds the wiring plug to the same bracket is a 1/4". Six 5.5mm bolts and a 1/4" bolt on the same bracket? No wonder they can't make any money, they are too busy changing tooling.

Newest GM I own is a 99 Silverado...can't complain. Didn't buy it new and I haven't given GM any money for it that I know of.

My other GM is the 86 CUCV and I just dropped a Cummins in it :huggy:

I'm not going to get into the union non union discussion because I'm a union worker. But Dwayne Ackerman is one of the big cheeses for GM now and he came from AT&T. This douche bag cut our bonus and then he got a $30million bonus. I could go on and on about this guy, he just pisses me off. I will buy nothing from them for that reason alone.

5.5mm?
Is that the head size or teh shaft? If it's the head, couldn't it be 7/32nds?

The way i see it all 3 make shit vehicles these days gov bailout or not Never liked ford. the ps engine was ok until the new 6.6l engine. Its junk from what Ive been told compaired to the 7.3. Dodge has the cummins great engine but there auto trans are shit. chevy well we all remember 6.2 and 6.5 garbage but have heard the 6.5 can be a good engine if a lot of stuff is added to it and have'nt heard many bad things out of the new duramax as long as you get the allison trans.
I have a 95 saturn and Ive beat the hell out off this car and it keeps goin. My first truck was a 198somethig ford couier. Great little truck. I have a 96 tahoe no major prob. My girlfriend taurus is sitting in the driveway with a shit trans. My other vehicle is my 82 yota trail rig I can go get in it pump the gas twice and touch the starter and it fires right up.
It sucks about the buyout but Ill never own a new vehicle anyways Obama will make sure of that with the finacial rape of America. Rant off
