I've just realized that all of the wire with my REP8000 is only 4 ga; not just the 6' leads for the battery, but also the short lines form the control box to the drum and even the line between the sloenoids.
Shouldn't they all be replaced w/ 2 or 0? According to Ramsey's spec, at only 4,000 pull it needs 258 Amps, well beyond spec for this guage.

I guess I'm just surprised that's what they would supply, i know folks that have use dthese units for years w/o problems, that makes me wonder if it is indeed sufficient?
(It's just a matter of money, so many ft of 0 guage wire ain't cheap)

#4 wire is a little thin, but you can get by with it because of duty cycle alone. If you used the winch continuously, that would be a different story.

They should be very short runs to the soleniods. This should be perfectly fine.

go to tsc tractor store or any welding supply house. you can buy 0 or 2-0 wire by the foot. bigger the better. can get the terminals there, too.
