Warn M8000......Need to put new cable on it. I was wondering about the synthetic rope. Has anyone used it before, how good, how thick, how long, and price.

I think there are a few different makes so not sure of the quailty and worth the price

synthetic is defiantly the way to go. Much easer to handle, safer, you can tie it back together if it breaks. I run 3/8x100 ft on my Warn 9500. I put the Syn on it as soon as it was mounted. I think mine is blue steel it was maybe $200-250

I found some from Rockstomper but, Just a little skeptic. The web site says that it is made out of AmSteel. Not really sure on size yet
Thanks

nothing to be a skeptic about...I've bought all mine from Scott at Rockstomper...

AmSteel Blue is a very reputable brand...

my group has been using Rockstompers rope for years....works great...good price. I broke it once but it was a dead pull with the axle pinned. When it broke the line dropped striaght down. It took all of ten minutes to reloop the hook and i was back in business (just with 10ft less)

I have seen some great deals on 1/2" Amsteel rope (even cheaper than 5/16 or 3/8)... Are there any inherent problems with using this size line on a 8000-12000 pound winch, other than the reduced line capacity?

Also, are there different grades of Amsteel rope for winching, marine work, etc. or are they all basically the same, just marketed/labeled for different applications?

someone should hook me up with their steel cable when they replace it with amsteel or whatever synthetic they choose :)
