Winch/Shafts/Etc Opinions

So I'm looking for the next modification or two to the truck to make. Just wanting some point of views to help sort things out in my mind anyway. Basic truck info is in the signature.

I'm stuck between going with chromoly shafts up front, or going with a winch.

Shafts: If I go shafts I would feel much more confident about not breaking anything up front in the D44, but I would also have to bank on the fact that I would have to go wheeling with people with strong enough winches to help out if necessary- not a good feeling in my mind.
Est. $ - 400 minimum for shafts

Winch: If I go winch, I will have to box in the front of the frame and include a receiver hitch, and then buy a mounting plate (for the time being). I then would need to probably go ahead and get an Optima (red or yellow? not sure). If I go this route, I can get my hands on some spare sets of fullsize shafts, but my front end also won't be as reliable since I am running 37s.
Est. $ - 300-400 for winch at a minimum (used obviously)
X amount for spare shafts
130 at a minimum for Optima

Thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated. Any other mod. suggestions would work to. Just need some feedback.

And P.S. I am comparatively easy on the skinny pedal. Probably much more than most.

*whisper* I know, I'm leaning that way. If I can even come up with it, I will be totally wiped out after that....
But it's still one of my top options, if not the top option, don't worry.

Just buy a winch and get soem spare shafts and some spicer u joints. Just don't romp on it and you'll be okay.

Winch, without a doubt. You shoulda got the winch before you did all the SFA stuff IMO.

Winch....

If you go winch and then brake a shaft thee winch can be of help.

if you go shafts and then get stuck, the chromoly aint gonna help much...

Of course thats just my twisted way of looking at it.

Well good to see you guys think the same as the way I was leaning. I'd love to have chromo shafts....but I couldn't really justify it if I'm having a hard time getting out somewhere.

I wanted to wait til we made a front bumper for the truck. So if I get one in the next while, I'll have to go the receiver route until I'm at my brother's place and we have time to fiddle with a bumper.
