I have a Xrc8 smittybilt winch and my solenoid is bad. Does anyone rebuild these, or can i use another soleinoid? This winch is only like 299 new and they want 135 just for the solenoid. Wife said its to much, so can anyone help me out here. I need my winch! lol

I'm also having problems with my smittybilt, not sure if its the solenoid or the remote hook up. I've been told on another forum that this will work for the solenoid.

I haven't got around to buying it and trying it out yet. Didn't know smittybilt wanted that much for the solenoid, that's ridiculous.
I went to this website and found the one for my winch which is a 2 post. ordered it and will let you know how it does as soon as i get it. Thanks!!! you saved me about $100 the solenoid was only $24

their is more than one sol in that box. should be 3.

The superwinch uses some sort of contactor rather than solenoids, but if you wanted to make another solenoid box for it..it should only need two of those 4 pole solenoids. Either way he's going to need one more and a wiring diagram.

Anyone interested I solved my solenoid problems by going to an externally mounted reversing solenoid, hard to find in the states I bought this in Australia. It maxes @500amps peak, operates to 200 amps. Waterproof and idiot proof sealed case. I have had one in my yj with a no name winch off E-bay (probably harbor freight) for some time now with no problems. I have a brand new spare that I will sell for 100.00.

The one i purchased is rated at 150amps max and 75amps for five minutes. Is that gonna be good enough for a 8,000lb winch? Can i use 2?

150 max seems a bit inadequate to me but I'm no electrician. I know thje paperwork that came with my winch says it's drawing 170 at full load,9000lbs

hmm didnt know that i am used to my old warn style setup that has 3. i guess the no bs is why its outlasted 2 winches.

Where'd you buy this from new?

Give DB electrical a call (link posted above). the'll get you set up with the correct solenoids. You will need 2 and he can even give you a wiring diagram
