wiring a cd player in an 83 CJ7??

i am trying to stall a cd player in my 83 CJ7
i wired it up but no power.
my question is where is a wiring diagram for this year radio player
or can anybody tell me about the wires.

it has a red power wire....two white wires, two green wires and two black wires. and thats all tht was hooked up to the factory radio.

the factory model was 5751145

check the fuses. First thing to always do with older systems! 90% of the time its the prob for me. Just went during install

ok, for your cd player... yellow is constant fused 12V... red is switched 12V... white, green, gray, purple are speakers... black generally is ground... orange is illumination...


as far as your factory wires... if there isnt a diagram, you can test them, but id say... red is switched 12V... white, green is speakers... black is ground, well atleast 1

^^ no its not the fuse, the radio kinda always worked, i just took it out to put in a cd player


^ thats what i was thinking, i just dont know why there are two blacks. and i only have two speakers in it so there are no purples.

that is the wiring diagrams for an 82 CJ, so id think itd be atleast close....

yea i got it all figured out, i just redid the entire audio wiring in the CJ.

thats probly the best way to do it... just make sure that you have a sufficient fuse on the yellow power wire... and wouldnt hurt on the red one either prob...

depending on the vintage and number of speakers you could have 1 black for ground and 1 black for "floating" ground
