so...i just got an XJ...i also just had Brandon put on a 4.5" life, trim the fenders, and put on some 34x9.5's.....so i'm trying to think of what i want to do next. The jeep has some pretty awful steering, there's a huge dead spot...i assume from ball joint roll. It's bad enough that i want to get it fixed before i find a new rear axle....it's that bad.

so...is the WJ the way to go these days? Or is there something that's better/cheaper that's out there? Should i just suck it up and have Rides custom build me a setup?

just looking for some input, i don't know jack about XJ's

the wj swap can get very expensive, but still cheaper them most aftermarket conversions.
i ended up using heims to cut cost down a lil.

you will end up needing a custom drag link and trac bar, the wj tie rod will work until you can save up the money to get a costom one of those.

try looking over on www.naxja.org

Scott at Schwabe Offroad did the WJ conversion on my XJ and I love it. However, it can get a little costly, and time consuming. Axle shafts have to be cut down, if you have 15" wheels you will need 1.5" spacers, you will have to fab or buy (tntcustoms.com) a high steer axle bracket.

In the end, my conversion included, WJ knuckles/tie rod/brakes, tntcustoms trackbar (they sell a shortened one to fit their axle bracket)/trackbar frame and axle brackets, and 1.5" wheels spacers.

Hit me up if you have questions.
