Any tips or things to avoid?

looks like Old man Emu heavy springs with front struts is the way to go.

Already picked up a factory set of rubicon moabs and 255/70r17 tires.

the jk moabs have a deeper offset so clearing the knuckle bolt shouldnt be an issue.

i plan on doing the pinch weld mod.

anyone see any holes in my plan? or any junkyard options that might make this project au cheaper?

Old man emu is the best. Get them for the front and rear. I had them on my WK. I suggest the HD spring rate because these vehicles are heavy, especially when you add gear inside. For rear shocks I used Monroe Load Levelers for a F150. They are slightly longer than what you actually need with the Emu lift but hold the rear up well when you have all your gear in the back.

For wheels, I used JK Moabs but had to run a 1.5" wheels spacer to clear the caliper and better clear the once weld mod. If you do use 1.5" spacers, watch the rear fender during heavy flex. I cut a tire pretty bad on first trip to URE.

Also if you use the Old Man Emu lift, you need an adjustable rear track bar. The axle will shift to the drivers side when you lift it past 2". That's how I cut the rear tire. Axle had shifted to driver side after lift and I went to URE before getting my adjustable track bar. Flexed hard and cut a tire. Bummer.

Hope this helps.

I've been working with a customer who is designing his own suspension on a mid-travel WK. We found the rear OME springs to be too stiff, I'd see if someone offers a softer rate.

OME is 240 Lb/In
OEM is 190 Lb/In

OME comes in MD or HD stiffness, which one did he use?

i ended up going with the OME HD and bilstein shocks. 250/70r17 on 2012 JK Rubicon moab rims. no spaces. but i have a little rubbing at full lock. will be adding spaces soon.

i havent ignored this advice. jsut cant afford it right now, baby on the way so i'll probably have to skip 2017 offroad season. but that gives me time to get the proper set up before i hit the trails

so far the only trouble im seeing is the traction control kicks in going around sharp turns, cloverleaf exit ramps and such.

havent wheeled it yet. but streetability has been affected little to none other than the traction control.

had the dealership perfom some recalls.

updated the firmware in the computers. now the traction control problem is gone.
