Okay yesterday I drove my jeep to a friends house, it started just fine....hooked the tow bar up and towed it to the trails....got to the trails and the thing would not start....we tested it and it seems that 12 volts is going all the way to the the coil but it stops there....when trying to crank it the main wire coming from the coil has no spark....we replaced the coil twice and still nothing...any ideas anyone? It will turn over but just not fire.I have a amc 304 with a standard ignition syetem.I have heard a lot of people say get a spare ignition module because they can go bad so easily, what are the symptoms of one going bad?

It it a duraspark ignition? It will have a grey/silver box with two round connectors. If so it is possible the box is bad. But I would also check the pickup coil in the distributor. It is the magnetic coil that tells the box when to fire the coil. If this is the correct system the red wire to the coil should be hot. The other wire should be green or white, this wire is grounded by the module and causes the coil to spark. But before you condemn the module, at the distributor the black should be grounded. I believe the orange should have voltage supplying the pickup coil. The violet wire is the reference wire that signals the module to fire the coil. You can check for a pulsing when you turn the engine over with a test light. Here is a crude wiring diagram. If I ccan find a better one I'll up date it.

It is a Sorensen, however you spell it, but that is pretty much the same as the Duraspark. Thanks for the info. The distributor and the igntion box have less than a couple hundred miles on them, I just replaced them not too long ago, they can go bad that fast?
