worth swaping

I will be picking up a 76 Chevy Step side. It has a front/rear 10bolt, would it be worth to swap in a 44/12bolt? will be running 35's on her, she will be a DD/weekin mudder.
 
I thought those had 44 and 12bolts in them. I thought the later models like 80-87 had 10 bolts
 
in 76 unless the axles have been swapped, it should have the 44/12 bolt in it... Depending on who you ask, you're not gaining much by changing the 10b to d44... and marginally gaining by swapping the 12b for a 10b... That is unless you are getting deeper gears or lockers or something by swapping...
 
Id rather have 10bolts than 12/44
But neither are rock stars
 
i wouldn't bother with swapping. wheel those axles until they break. then upgrade to 3/4 or tons. beware, if you break a shaft the tire will walk out of the housing on you. time consuming to get it off the trail and on a trailer.
