I have a friend that's father died 3 weeks ago and he own a junk yard. He has a 96 or 97 Burb or tahoe thats wrecked on the side. He told me if I clean up the juck yard and tell him prices on parts I could have the truck. What motor came in these trucks and would it be a good motor swap for my CJ7. I never like chevys so I have no idea on what motor was in them. + he has a 6x6 with rocks, but someone got the front axle already. Should I pull the rear rocks out and sell them. Thanks for any help

someone correct me if I am wrong, but it would probably have a vortec 350. Definitly a good swap candidate if in good shape. Just remember you will need to do something with the transmission also. They are not strong enough to handle the motor.

if it's a tahoe, it has the 350....if it is a burb it most likely will have the 350 as well, but could be something bigger (454?) the rocks could be worth some money if they are in good shape. steering ones are more valuable though. the motor would be a great swap into the CJ7 and has been done hundreds of times and there is a ton of knowledge here and pirate, as well as other sites about what trans to use and other drivetrain issues that may arise with the swap...if you get the motor, get all the wiring that goes with it, and that trans that is with the chevy may even work with the swap as well.
