My CJ PS box is getting sloppy and leaking. I've got a YJ box that looks decent. So

bolts up to brackets, Right?

Is the input shaft splined the same? Bolts up to the steering shaft?

Ok, so what lines do I use? Will YJ lines work? Late model CJ lines (oringed)?

take it apart--- see if it fits---- don't fit --- just get a new box:shaking:

the spline size & count is not the same on the box input shaft, you could get a custom shaft made. older cj's had flare end hoses, newer had o-ring like yj's have

i think all the late cj/ yj hoses are the same fittings,if your cj hoses are original i would toss them ,go to napa & get new ones.they are cheap enough & cheap insurance against a failure, they wear out & deteriorate on the inside from age & heat

Well

Working with a 79 CJ5. I have a new pressure hose, but I think it has the flare type fitting.

I've got a
PS box from a YJ
YJ Tilt Column
YJ Steering shaft

I'd like to get a heavy duty bracket (Big Daddy looks good), before I do the swap.

steering box

i dont think it will work,on the cj,the box is angled, points the the passngers side,on the yj,it points straight ahead,it would work if you changed the mounts, just my 2 cents:beer:
