Just finished the 5.3L/T56 swap into my 88 GMC and apparently I remembered incorrectly about what rearend gears I had. I haven't driven the truck in about 4 years so for some reason I thought I had better gearing. Well, the 2.73 gears and the T56 make it sloooooooooooooow and weird to drive. I'd like to get my hands on a 3.73 rear axle that I can bolt in. Gotta be the right width and 5x5 lug pattern. Factory 3.73 or aftermarket, doesn't matter. This has been a bare bones budget build so looking for cheapo.

Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4, ran 3.73s for years. My 98 Silverado had the 3.73s. But, I think the 4x4s are 6 lug. Maybe you could snatch the gears anyway.
The 4x4 and 2wd rear axles are apparently different widths. I'd rather get something drop in so I can do it in a night. Thanks though!

Sadly the 12 bolt 5lug rear for these trucks from the 454ss is extremely rare and expensive but it if you were to convert to 6lug you could run the 14bolt SF from a Z71

I'm not making huge power, it is just a stock 5.3L. Don't really need anything more than a 10-bolt at this point. Also need to maintain my axle width.
