any tips for getting the stock tranny cooler lines re-seal on an XJ AW4? Swapped transmissions (97 tranny in to 95 XJ), I'm not sure if we had all the correct pieces for the quick disconnects. I had one black plastic collar probably 3/16" long on the 95 cooler lines. Inside the QC's on the tranny, there was one green O-ring, a flat white plastic spacer, then another green O-ring. The black collar wouldnt fit with the 2x O-rings and white spacer, so we just used the black collar. I'm not surprised that sideis leaking, but the other side with 2x O-rings and white spacer is also leaking. Both leak only under pressure.

God those things are a PITA. One of mine leaked and I just gave up and ordered a new line with it all connected

Tony, you can get the quick disconect repair kits at the dealership.
If ya need me to get ya the part number, lemme know. We use them all the time.

yeah post up the repair kit p/n if its not a problem. Couldnt find anything at Autzone last night. In their defense, it was 9:05 when they let me in, they closed @9:00

I'm considering pulling the QC's, have to see what fittings I can dig up...

thanks Jody! $23.10 at my local dealer, but none in stock, 2 coming tommorrow.
Are the Mopar ones any different than the Dorman 800-750 parts?
These are $13 @ NAPA and Advance ($39 at AutoZone), I can get 2 deleivered to my local NAPA tommorrow.

OK, WTF is the secret with these "quick" connects?
I have the repair kit, and removed all the previous stuff from inside the transmission fittings, and stripped the plastic off the hard lines. The hardlines are unclamped from the engine and pretty free to move around, I still can't assemble these things.

What's the preferred placement for all the little parts before assembly. We had no luck when the old plastic clip was on the hardline and the O-ring/spacer/O-ring were in the fitting. Yesterday I tried putting the plastic clip in the fitting, then sliding the hardline into that, no luck once again. All I can think to try is to put everything (O-ring/spacer/O-ring/clip) onto the hardline and try that.
I also picked up this disconnect tool set, but I don't see how thats gonna help.

On the install tool that comes with the kit: it should be quick connect, o-ring then plastic bushing then o-ring again. Lube that as an assembly and install into the fitting on the tranny. Then slide the line into it. Or you can disassemble the "kit" and stack it onto the line and install it all into the tranny that way.

I've dont so freaking many here atwork and sometimes they just plain suck.

got 'em in. Thanks Jody for confiming there is no easy way. The trick seemed to be to rebend the hardlines a little to get them straight in. I put everything on the hardlines and got the forward one it, the re-tried the other one with a bare hardline and everythign in the tranny fitting.
"Quick" connects, my ass
