I've been searching for this and have been finding a wide range of answers.
What does a jeep 4.0 weigh?
What does an aw4 weigh?
What does a np231j weigh?
I'm going to be pulling all 3 out of a 94 xj. How many bowls of Wheaties do I need to eat to pull this off? Thanks

Regular engine hoist will handle the weight with no issues. Worst part is the length of the drivetrain combo, but I've taken them out and put them back in all together plenty of times.

Thanks for the insight. I'm going to be using a tractor and boom pole this time around. That is why I am concerned about actual weight. Got limits to work with.

Motor aprox 500
couldnt find a weight on the trand and 3 case but I'd say 800

500
125
75
Plus or minus depending on fluids and accessories.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be pulling xfer case and aw4 first. Tractor is good for 600#. I've seen the 500 number more than any other. The other numbers have been everywhere.

I'm less confident ons the trans, but the tcase is definitely sub 100lbs.

Getting it all out with the transfer case attached is a pain in the ass anyway. I think it's easier to pull the tcase off with it underneath, then pull the engine and trans together. I'd go ahead and try to pick it with the gin pole. If it doesn't go, then worry about unbolting the trans.
