My buddy has a 00 xj with 116,000 oil presure drops when it warms up and the check engine light comes on, Replaced the oil pressure sending unit, Still does it. Anyone else had issues with oil pressure in there 4.0??? Any suggestions??

My 99 XJ 4.0L is getting ready to roll 140,000, never seen the check engine light other than startup. I don't pay much attention to the gauges, but I think last time I scanned while driving, it was staight up (40psi ?). I would send your buddy by Autozone and see if they can read the codes form the check engine light.

change to diesel oil. 15w-40 or so. that's what i run in all my cherokees and it's solved that problem every single time, trust me.

i run rotella 15w-40 with no problems and a MUCH cleaner valvetrain since the change...

Mine did that too. I ran a higher weight oil in it, didnt change a think. Neither I, my friends, or the dealership could figure out why the oil pressure dropped on warm up. I drove it for about a year like that, finally about a month ago the engine went to sh#t. Tell him good luck.

^ i researched it a good amount simply because i was curious. what i found made me switch. nothing but good reviews and comments from using rotella 15 40 on older 4.0s.
there are a lot of people on here that use it too. more detergents, keeps the engine cleaner....less sludge. good weight to keep the pressure where its suppose to be.
some like it a lot better than high mileage synthetics.
i am one of those.

actually my pressure is great... so long as there's oil in it :D, Short of a rebuild, I was just curious if it helped with consumption. but sounds like a good idea none the less.

i don't have any problems with oil consumption except when i park while going up daniel or kodak :) valve guide seals or something i guess, not sure :(

to be honest, my oil pressure wasn't bad... i didn't really have any problems, per say, just did it as a preventative step i suppose since my motor has some miles on it and i have a heavy foot, hehe.... i did notice an increase in oil pressure since the change though... not excessive, but from my reading it's a good thing
