So a while back I posted soem pics fo my Xj after I tore part of the unibody out from under it. Well I am going to have to try to put it back together and plate it all. Basically the whole frame with be plated with 1/4". I am thinking about extending the rear a little and using 63" Chevy Springs. Anyone else on here done it? Just looking to see what you did and how it is working. I have about a year before I get back from Iraq.

Keep safe over there. I would not use .25 on stiffeners. It is overkill. I built some frame stiffners from 3" 3/16th angle. Cut and drilled for the frame rail. Now for the area you are talking about I would do the same just have to work it all out. Are you refering to the pictures of the rear bumper snatch that ripped the bumper and the rear spring hannger off?
Here is a picture.

Seems like someone in a red two door cherokee used 63's out back. I don't know his sig though. I know he was running 38" SX's and I believe some shots were posted up of him at the DPG.

Any particular reason for wanting to run chevy 63's? If you just want some extra wheelbase, I'd try flipping the xj springs; that way you'll have less sticking out back to drag.

Might be they would flex better and be softer. Give thte 4.0L time and his springs will flex fine. :driver:

I ran a set of 63's on a toyota I once had, and yeah, they would flex okay, but it just seemed a bit long for a spring on an xj imo. A set of xj springs with the right shackle angle will flex just as well and give much better departure angle.

I see a lot of the yota guys running them and they just seemed to flex really well. Yes mine is the one with those pics from before with the hard jerk. I currently have TNT stiffners in the front so i need to fix the rear. My current set up out back is 6.5" springs and 2" shackles with 38.5" SX's. My rear end is also a 9" with 5.13s and a spool. I was thinking with flatter springs I can get more droop than I get now. I was hoping someone would have some pics of them in the rear to see how much I would be adding to the rear if I went this route. Might have to check the NAXJA guys.
