Hey fellas...I swapped rigs (Bronco for XJ) with my brother for the time being for commuting purposes. It's a 97 XJ with 185k on the straight 6, and I was just wondering what acceptable oil psi range was for this thing considering the conditions? I know with some Ford engines, 5psi is acceptable in some engines considering age. Well this XJ, has 40psi at cold idle, but drops to 10 psi at hot idle and when it's hot, it seems to top out around 20-22psi when cruising at 70mph. Is this something to raise an eye brow over? Or to start thinking rebuild/swap? Thanks in advance.
 
The oil sending units are well known for going out on the 4.0's. It's the 2 small wires attached to the plastic clip right above the oil filter. They are small enough to snap while changing the oil filter and very brittle. I think a new one is roughly $15. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info fellas...I'm not typically one to believe dummy gauges, but it's all that's in there...so I figured it would give a decent ball park idea. I was just concerned because I'm used to higher oil psi numbers...hell the hot idle psi in my rigs never drop below 40psi.
