I heard somewhere that a grand cherokee tie rod is the same thing as an xj tie rod Except it is alot beefier.

Is this true?

Is there certain years that are stouter? I have a 97 xj and want an up grade for my tie rod.

Anyone have one they would like to part with?

It is solid instead of hollow. I still don't see it as that big of a upgrade though. From what i rememeber the grands have a bend in them to clear the diff. That seems like a good place to start bending. If you dont wanna spend the coin on a full upgrade i would just sleeve the stock tierod. That what I did before I went to hiems and 1.5" .25" wall tubing.

You're looking for a V8 ZJ tie rod. Supposedly its solid. There are tons of accounts on the net about how this is the real deal, but I managed to find one naysayer. I guess there are two factory bends on it, and I did find one internet account where the guy bent the V8 ZJ rod on his XJ, right at one of these bends. Should be $15 at the boneyard.
