getting ready to buy a set of axles... the front axle is from a 98 XJ all beefed up and same with rear which is an D44. would the bracketry from an 98 XJ front axle be a direct bold in to a 99 TJ??? i already have a brackets for rear, just curious about the front... thanks!

The front is a direct bolt in. You will need to make sure what your brackets you bought are radiused at. I just did an XJ rear swap on my tj and the brackets I found were all set up for 3 to 3.5" diameter axle tubes. The XJ 44 is a 2.75" axle tube. It can all be made to fit but may make things a little bit tougher getting your control arms lined up once you make the brackets fit.

also... these built axles have lunchbox lockers in them, do they need any other type of gear oil other than the recommended stock lube?

regular gear lube. the HP is a bolt in if it was under an xj. the HP is stronger too. nice choice.
