Yj oil leak

I have a 88 yj with a 258 (plastic valve cover). when i got the jeep 2 weeks ago it had an oil leak at the rear of the valve cover. Well it was a cork gasket and there easy to get slipped out. Well i took the valve cover off and found tons of rtv between the cover and the gasket and a little light went off. well went to the parts house (advance) and the only gasket they sell for the plastic valve cover is cork. So i put it on and torked it down. all good so far. Took the jeep out today for a little ride and got back home and poped the hood and the gasket was wet same place. So any help or advice guys? thanks in advance.

That's a common problem on the 258. I would suggest replacing the plastic cover with a metal one.

i second that you need to get a metal one i beleive they sell them on summit

Get an aftermarket aluminum one. Won't need a gasket, just rtv.
