Does anyone know if a family style YJ roll bar can be put in a CJ5 without a lot of work? My factory bar attaches to the floor like a YJ, but I don't know how much else they have in common.

define 'a lot of work'. I think the YJ is too long, you would need to shorten up the bars to fit the CJ-5 tub. Might be better off starting from scratch.
Now if you had a CJ-7...

Should work I would think. Have to do some plating on the floor mount. Maybe a trim here and there thing. The added length in a 7 vs a 5 is all in the doorway. Rear tub is the same I think. I used a 95 in my 85. Still have the main hoop( the part to the floor) and my tub is a 77 model

Hmmm, I hear what you're saying, but can't picture it in my head  Wouldnt the B-pillar bar of a YJ/CJ-7 cage end up too far forward in a CJ-5?

I agree with chip, the added length in a cj7 is all in the doorway. I know a cj7 cage will bolt up to a cj5, so this should be the same diff.
