I'm going to be stretching my YJ's wheelbase this summer plan is to relocate rear shackle mounts to rear frame cross member with a little added beef on the cross member and leave the front spring mounts in the stock location. With that said what leaf spring options do I have and how much stretch will it give me? Also considering adding a little stretch to the front but would like to do as little modification as possible up front but open to any suggestions what would I need to do on the front, what leafs, and how much stretch I would obtain. Look forward to any and all input.

Thanks, Scott

XJ springs are really common, but I think they are also really soft. lots of people add an extra leaf in there. this gets you 5".

I *think* you could also use F150 springs, but I am not sure.

you could move your stock spring hanger back and use YJ springs

I subscribed, as I am interested in more info on this subject as well :)

You could use waggy front springs to stretch the front 2" from stock shackle & spring mounts . Same for the rear just get front waggys all around

I will consider the waggys on the front but I'm looking to get a few more inches in the rear than waggy springs would give. I have heard alot of people use XJs on the rear but does anyone know what other options there is? Also forgot to ask how many inches of lift the springs would provide also?

I have a set of dakota springs in perfect shape. They give you 10" of stretch in the rear if you run them backwards. $100 for the pair if you are interested.

Those Dakota springs are 54" eye to eye and I think they are just as soft as Xjs , but the Dakotas will give you some more lift . You need to ad a some support to those springs or you bendem or twist them , trust me :shaking: there's a good thread on pirate about this

spring lenght

dont mean to highjack your thread . when the xj springs are use on a jeep wrangler or a cj in the rear is the lenght for the frt. hanger to the lower bolt on the rear shackle suppose to be the same as the xj or is this just a put it were it fits thing .some threads say you have to get the angle on the shackle to a certain degree.
sorry again dont mean to jack ya
