idk of where any writeups are but there are a few websites that talk about proper arm length, mounts and articulation calculations along with spring and coil rates. I'll try to dig them up after work

Trail-Gear makes a pre-man 4-link at a somewhat reasonable price and it's pretty strong if your interested in going that route.
 
Make this fit:
Build lowers, make uppers approx 80% the length of the lowers.
Separate the axle end approx 8", frame end approx 6".
Mount the lowers as parallel to the ground as possible.
Triangulate either the uppers or lowers approx 45* or both.
Add coils, c/o's or airshocks to suit.
