ok so i found a used carb for my sister for my nephews 1990 yota pickup 22r and she had a "mechanic" install and adjust it. so the problem and ? is that gas haas to be put directly in the carb it will start and run fine, shut it off. upon restarting gas has to be put directly in carb every time to start it... make sense? i got this thing for $30 shes thinkn about buying a new one(mechanic suggests) any ideas? thanks and

A rebuild kit would be cheaper than a new one, just gotta find someone that can do it. It sounds like the accelerator pump isn't working. What was wrong with the original one?

It sounds like what is happening is the gas is draining out of the bowl, either into the engine or back down the line.A fresh rebuild should fix this assuming it isn't something in the fuel pump.Another idea is ,get an inline fuel filter and mount it somehow just higher than the carb. That should keep the fuel from wanting to run back down the line. It's just an idea though, the fuel may create a vacuum that pulls the fuel out of the carb reservoir as it falls.

its @ her "mechanic" now so he could prob rebuild it. i will let her know. thanks guys
