Yota High Steer Question

Which is better/more worth the money, Trail Gear or Sky-Manufacturing?

Trail-Gear has a lifetime warranty no questions asked. I can get a used IFS box for $110, but with no warranty or anything. This kit is $299.

Sky-Manufacturing's kit comes with a used and inspected IFS steering box with a 90 day warranty. And on a short budget, I can't afford to pay $400 for a new steering box. This kit is on sale right now for $469.
 
I've done the all pro kit and marlin kit. I wouldn't support all pro but both Trail Gear and Sky are good companies.

I'd spend the extra money and have a warranted box though... if it needs rebuilding or you fruck it up tapping it when you go hydro assist you'll catch hell trying to get it fixed. trust me, I know.

I vote trail gear just b/c I like them, marlin is great too.
 
Not to hijack, but can you install a histeer kit on a stock unlifted truck? I need to convert to histeer to avoid the ditch diving panic braking thing, but don't have a lift yet. Gonna do both but the steering needs to be done now.
 
Yeah, mine does that too. The stock PS gear box is worn out and likes to take you wherever it wants on the road, so I'm gonna go ahead and do a high steer conversion.

From what I have read you need 3" of lift at least to run high steer.. Not really sure why. Its been a while since I have worked on the front of my rig. FWIW I rune high steer with the Marlin 4" kit and it works great!

Have either of you tried to adjust the steering box? It can be done, but be aware that if you go too tight, you will destroy the entire unit and need a rebuild.

Ah, hadn't thought about the oil pan being in the way! Thanks. Guess I'm just gonna have to do it all at once.
