how do you hot wire or by pass sensor? with the body lift not able to mount air box so sensor not reading right. can I jump wires to get good metering?

You can't bypass it, that's how the ECU knows how much air is coming into the intake so it can adjust the fuel properly. If you did, it would run like crap, esp as you added throttle.
I don't understand why you can't leave the air box where it is. Unless your body lift is liek 6", there should be plenty of flex in the hose.

Now, another option would be to swap the AFM and the battery, and put it right on the end of an elbow at the intake, add a cone filter etc... mien is this way and it isn't even attached to the body anymore. I can prob dig up some pics if interested.

3.0 battery and throtle body diff. sides of engine compartment. and the flex hose was to dry roted. I was able to make a tube but can't figure out what to do about in frt. of square sensor housing. all cone filters are round at the mounting spot.

They make an adapter to go from your mass air meter to a cone filter, they sell them at advance, or auto zone. I put one on mine.

Sorry, you didn't mention it was the 3.0, I was assuming 2re.
What I meant was, move the battery so it is out of the way, now you have room to put the AFM right in front of the intake.
You can get an adapter to put the cone on the AFM.
For teh 22re, you an also use an intake off an 80s Supra, this has a 3" inlet and is a swap-in - nice and easy to put a cone on.

Now, conveniently, I happen to have an AFM and intake hose from a 3.0, if you just wan ta replacement cheaply.

A lot of stuff is run off of that Air Flow Meter. There is no way to get rid of it without going to a stand alone which is worth about 5 times more than that 3.0 which would make that a horrible option. I can make you something if needed, just let me know. I would get the adapter like they are saying and roll with that, that's what we do. Watch out, not all early supra AFMs take the same air reading, some send different voltages.

just add KN to end of mass air meter...THey have them at Advance for 54.00.
