tips or suggestions?

I have had vey good luck with all of mine. We (the guy who could actually weld and I) took off the ring gear first and welded it ALL together. The spiders to the side gears, and all 4 of those to the case. We let the carrier cool in between passes, and put nozzle gell on the splines of the side gears to keep splatter off of them. Best advice is, weld the freakin crap outta it, but dont get it too hot, it will make the metal brittle and the carrier will explode! I have run diffs like this in 4-5 diffrent toyota's with absoulutely no problems.

thanks for the info, im a welder myself and was wandering how to shield the splines from getting spatter on them haha didnt even think about nozzle gel...great idea

did ya'll do any pre-heating?

I have done it like he said before, but be careful on welding the side gears and spiders to the case. You can warp it and cause your gear pattern to run out. I would just weld the spiders to the side gears IMO.

ok, went to unbolt the ring gear using the 4 bolts holding the C clips in, and the ring gear and case and all came out...how do i seperate the ring gear from the casing?

or do i just tke the ring gear off of its cast mount?

ok nevermind figured it out lol

weld the gears to the case and to each other. be sure to have the pin in the carrier when you weld it. if you only weld the gears together all the load will be in the pin and the pin will shear and you will have no drive.
