I'm currently istalling a RE lift on a tj for a customer and its top notch. I've also seen several of there lifts flogged and work flawless. The fit and finish is excellent, the only problems I've incurred were from someone elses botched axle swap. Another friend has run a Rusty kit for a XJ for a year and the leaves have given up. Different application but your only as good as your weakest product.
we just put a rustys 6.5'' on my daughters xj along with a slip yoke eliminator and we couldnt be happier . we havnt put it to a real test yet but everything fit and worked great. the jeep looks awsome with the 33'' tsl's with no triming .
more info would be nice o accuratly answer your question
what vehicle?
re superflex short arms? or special ordering the long arms with 4.5" springs?
regardless of your answers to the above questions i would pick the RE.... i haven't been impressed with the rusty's stuff that i've seen on a couple xj's and a zj...
xj , shortarm ,want to up grade later if i need to, just with tires rims the purchuse of the jeep , wallet is getting thin and my list of things i want and need isn"t getting much shorter
Helped a friend install a 4" Rustys kit on an XJ.
Fit and finish were acceptable, and everything seemed ok.
I know he took it off less than 1 year later, but not sure why...
That said Ive never failed to be amazed with REs quality
Yea so i guess im that guy..The Rustys stuff was ok but the rear springs started to sag not even a year later....I got RE stuff now and i think its worth every penny!
Having installed both and running an 8" rusty's la lift in my roommates xj (that I ordered and installed), I can say that I'll never reccommend anyone ever buy one of their products again. I was less than satisfied more than once...
i'm running rusty's 4.5 lift but i've also added drop shackles and coil spacers. i'm pretty happy with it. i bought it because it was the cheapest one i could find. my leaf spring bushings are shot after about a year of driving/wheeling but rusty sent me a whole new set for free. also, my adjustable upper control arms (purchased later) are starting to get a little sloppy...but i'm not running jam nuts so that is to be expected i guess.
overall its ok...i havn't broke anything yet so thats good.
I have some of Rustys stuff. Had some fail but it was the first gen stuff and he was willing to replace with the 2nd gen for free. So far my 6.5" Leafs are holding up. I personally like the RE stuff. I personally don't like the ACME threads on his adjustable lowers. Not sure if he still uses them or not. Only cause if you don't use the jam nuts they get really sloppy and noisy.
if you're really going to wheel it and not just pound pavement, get the RE, otherwise the Rustys stuff is fine. the RE is by far better quality. I've owned, wheeled and sold both.If you start using the Rustys stuff hard it will fail.
