Hoping to snag a car hauler this weekend. Going to refurb it with rusty metal primer and rustoleum and then drop on a new deck. I’m a black paint guy... but asking of there’s benefit to different or brighter colors.

Safety benefits to brighter colors?
Cool factor to match to my tow rig (silver) or CJ7 (red).

The only benefit Ive found is IF ITS STOLEN.....

Silver to match the tow rig. Plus it won't show dirt and road grime as easily, and it won't be as hot in the summer.

I deer hunt with a dude that lives in charlotte and has had his trailer and ATV stolen twice. The 3rd one had had powder coated BRIGHT PINK...they aint got it...yet

When I was traveling with the carnival years ago in upstate NY. We painted every truck and haul trailer DOT yellow.

If you have proper insurance, let them have it. I’ll take a new trailer any day. It probably comes with new brakes and new tires too.

From what I understand insurance depreciates it and doesn’t cover tax

My provider (Farm Bureau) offered 2 types of insurance. I opted for the “few bucks a year” higher version and stated the replacement value of my trailer. I may have inflated that price by $500 to cover a few things...

State Farm here.
I asked for a trailer policy explicitly stating it was solely for theft. They asked for how much replacement cost and bill me accordingly. It's super cheap.
YMMV in SC however.

Same as these two^. Called my Farm Bureau agent, said here's the VIN, insure it for this much (trailer cost plus upgrades plus aggravation of having to replace it), and she said some ridiculously low amount. As for color I like black because it's usually cheaper and easy to touch up, but color match to the tow rig is always a good look too.

I agree with Duane& any others, that black would be the easiest to touch up! My first trailer [POS] was painted black, & not worth the rattle can to touch up. Got my second trailer, which was a faded red. When I replaced the deck, I thought I'd paint it the same as my CJ. Color match came out more red & brighter, but I had paid for it & it looks pretty good! Too many Black trailers out there!
