Best cordless grease guns…

Since my property looks like a tractor yard now, I figure it’s time to invest in a decent cordless grease gun. I do like a workout from the manual grease guns, but I’m getting old and lazy, so time to upgrade.

Anyone have a favorite? I have a lot of Dewalt cordless tools, so naturally having a Dewalt seems like the thing to do. But, I’ve been looking at the Milwaukee one as well. I do like me a Milwaukee power tool and it may be a good excuse to go ahead and but the 23ga cordless pin nailer for some trim projects coming up.

Any others you all have experience with or been impressed with?
 
I have a DeWalt 20v grease gun. Its pumped a lot of grease for me, I have no complaints. Seems like it was around Christmas time last year and I got 2 of them on sale from tractor supply for $175 each. That was the kit that comes with a 5ah batter, charger, and hard case. Also put a lock n lube coupler on it, well worth the investment in my opinion.
 
I had an M18 one. It was fine. It got stolen and I didnt care enough to replace it.

I have an M18 one. It pumps grease. 2 speed, high speed actually seems to have more punch than low, but if you use it with an 8/9/12.0 battery on a stuck joint, you can tell it is really putting a load on the internal components. You will use 3 times as much grease as you do with a hand grease gun, assuming you actually use the hand pumper. For me, I never use either, but the M18 looks way cooler sitting on the shelf not being used.


Deviation:
Best locking tip? Or better to have a really stout springy collet and no lever/plunger in the way?

I can relate to all of this for sure. The one nice thing the m18 version does is has the little wheel you can set the amount of pumps with, not that you arent just going to keep pulling the trigger.
I tried the lock n lube tip but it was too big for a lot of places and the milwaukee tip holds just fine up to the point of stalling the gun, guess depends on what you greasing

oh, and anything beats a hand pump when you used to do 300 fittings on one pm on one machine. I also vote the red one.
 
Ok. So yellow or red. Got it.

I guess I’ll need to invest in a decent tip as well. I like the idea of the lock n lube tip but I’m guessing it will be too big for many of the fittings on the tractors…

This. Does about 25-40 fittings a day when we are cutting hay depending on equipment being used. I can get to almost everything I need to with it. The only pain in the ass is the upper pins on one of the loaders, but changing out to a 90 or even 45* zerk would solve that issue.

lol, "HUGE". If you have not used one I'd guess they clip on 90 percent of what is out in the field. The a-hole ones engineers who don't mechanic location are just as problematic with standard tips. Those get remotes or mods. Screw a non serviceable service point.
 
I bought an M18 to grease my equipment when I started working on my land, I do them every 10hrs of run time and I wouldn't want to go back to a manual gun. I actually liked it so much I bought a second one so I don't have to switch grease types out.

I bought a lube locker and it worked great until it started not sealing well after maybe 10 tubes of grease through it. I always clean my zerks off before greasing, but I believe a little piece of trash must have got in there and nicked something up. A rebuild kit is bouncing around somewhere but I switched back to a normal style and haven't really missed it.
 
Rob, I'm with ya on the old and lazy, actually, Older, and more lazy most likely. This is on my wish list or sure. Maybe I have been a good boy and find one under the tree,... Oh wait, Damn it all! I ain't got a tree. O well LMAO
If I were buying one, I'd most likely go with a DeWalt, seeing as how I have not a single Milli-Red. I say, go with the one you have the most/best batteries.
 
I’m odd one out, mine is Ryobi. I’ve put a lot of tubes thru it in the last 2 years and it’s done everything I’ve asked of it.
My hands thanked me after years of pistol grip grease guns. Never cared for the lever handle, most places it took 2 hands to use, very inconvenient in tight places.

The 2 speed Milwaukee seems to be a favorite for those with tracked vehicles that need to work the track adjusters

All the “name” brands seem to do well

This is my fear of wasting $30-40 on a LocknLube. And the only ones that the Milwaukee one leaks on are the ones anything else would leak on. With a clean, shapely zerk and a stuck pin it will stall the gun and make the hose stiffer than a high school boner.

I like that video. Looks like the Milwaukee is the clear winner with Dewalt coming in 2nd. Dunno. Guess it’s a toss up for me. I have lots of Dewalt batteries but have been looking for a reason to get the pin nailer, so having more than one m18 Milwaukee tool now looks like a real possibility.

I've got the pin nailer too, it's m12.. so doesn't really make your decision any easier. The m12 grease gun sucks compared to the m18. I can feel in your heart that you want to switch to the correct brand though, just do it.
 
I forgot that the pin nailer was m12. Bummer. I was looking for any excuse to get the Milwaukee. I hate most Dewalt stuff even though I have a ton of it. It’s just so much easier to purchase. Although Ace finally opened up this year in Greenville and carry’s Milwaukee, so that makes buying local a bit easier even though they tend to be more expensive than online sources or trade shops (ihrie supply, etc). And we only have a Lowes (no HD), so again, limited choices when buying late in evening or on weekends.

HD delivers most free of charge, and if you watch the page you can get some reasonable deals. Black Friday was good to me.

I have started to invest in the M12 platform, the smaller bodies but decent power work well for a lot of what I do, I carry those in my technican bag when I can’t be near the van for working on stuff. M12 3/8” stubby impact is the shit, the basic M12 3/8”ratchet helps a lot too.

I was like that when I first got the tractor. Greasing everything until my arms wore out. And now I realize I hate doing it and know if I don’t, it won’t be long before I’m replacing pins and pivots on a new ish tractor. It has nearly 200 hours now and I’ve seen my commitment falter recently.

With the addition of a few more pieces of equipment, I see the need for something to make it easier…
