Years ago, our local paper ran a headline on the top of the front page...something like: "Elderly Man Killed in Shooting"

The article stated he was 62.

I was probably in my mid-30's -- but that stuck with me.

I turn 62 next week. :(

Told my wife when we went on out honeymoon. Get in and go to sleep. Ill let ya know when we get there. Took her a while to realize thats why I insisted we leave at 0500.

Drive 8 hours from coast to WNC. Stop at grocery store to stock up for the weeklong vacation in the rental cabin. Arrive at cabin, unload luggage, groceries and family disappear to explore the cabin, enjoy the creek, and climb the mountains. Sit down and moments later wife and kids all come through the door simultaneously and I hear "Where are we going to eat?" Oh joy, more driving and wondering why we bothered getting groceries. Dad life for the win!
