Thoughts on removing concrete deck.

I have a concrete deck off our bedroom that I want to remove. What are your thoughts on how to go about this. As economically as possible I might add. I am thinking possibly making some cuts part of the way through and trying to break off and remove the pieces with the mini-ex. I would assume it has some kind of wire reinforcement, but not 100%. Any other better ideas? Thanks

To be clear you are wanting to remove the upper deck not the floor of the lower, right?
 
If you're not concerned about preserving the brick columns that support it, and your able to move anything you care about out from under it, I would almost guarantee a few good smacks in the middle of the span with a bucket and it would buckle.

Now if you want or need to be more methodical about it, I would say score it deep with a saw into manageable size pieces and then grab/break off the pieces with the mini.

Wait - if going this route instead of 4-5 heavy buddies invite 10-12 female friends in bikinis and film + .... = profit

this is the thing I'd be worried about.
No doubt a good smack w/ the X will take it out but you don't want to buckle anything where is attaches
 
I'd be concerned about it hinging down, or chunks not going in the direction you want, and taking out the brick veneer around the basement door. Or taking a ride down on it if you are cutting/sledgehammering, anywhere near it.

Maybe some cribbing piers, so when it breaks, it can only go so far?

Or, a lull with fork extensions, and take it whole, in one shot. Guessing 6k pounds. If it's not tied into the house/side wall/column.

Basic same thoughts/math I had.
I'm assuming 10'x10'by4".
Putting this a little under 1.5 yards on concrete. Probably a little under 5k - but put a safety factor on it and 6k would be a good working estimate.

Id move the hot tub first thing though.

Look, your heart is in the right place, but I’m just trying to be realistic. All I know for sure is that @89wrangler has friends on NC4X4, and judging by the clientele around here, there don’t need to be any bikinis involved in this event.
 
Since you have the mini to do the lifting, I'd drill and install some anchors or thru bolts and some lifting eyes. Saw left to right(parallel) to wall and lift pieces away. May have to build a temp support underneath to support everything after you get that first chunk off the columns. Ive done a couple thing like this at work with succes and not damaged the surrounding structures

It you dont care about the supporting structure underneath ... 2 big through anchors Cable/chain/strap and something with lots of torque in reverse.

I have never trusted this "deck" since we moved it 23 years ago. Maybe it is psychological, not sure. Hell maybe it is safe and strong? But the reason the hot tub is on the bottom is to make sure there are no humpty dumpty moments with a full hot tube. Bikinis or no bikinis.
It does not appear to be attached to the house, just poured up to it.
The hot tube is leaving.
I would like to keep the brick columns
Building a new deck on back of house and concrete is in the way.
