Saturday I did a fluid and filter change out on the trans. I didn’t “flush” just drop the pan. Change the 2 filters and refill. Magnet had minimal material and overall the pan was pretty damn clean of any material. Truck had shifted fine previously it was just time for a service. Drove to work this morning and then back home without issue. Pulled into check the mail box. Put it in park and the engine light dings. WTF? Check the mail and get back in the truck. Hits pretty hard into reverse. Back out and hit drive. Instantly goes to “4” on the shift selector in the display and has no acceleration (limp mode) but it moves barely. Get it to the driveway. Some google says solenoid pack. Code reader says P0750 “a” solenoid. So, do I drop the pan again and just change the solenoid pack or while I’m in there change the Valve body too considering I need to move the VB to get to the shift solenoids?? Both of which apparently require a tool to enter a “learn” program that I don’t have.

FML this damn truck has worn my ass. $12k under the hood a few months ago. Just put new tires on it and some other investments.

I love the truck but need to make it right cause I’m in it far enough now that it’s gonna be my forever truck.

Also: when this happened I had just driven about 30 miles of highway and stop and go to get home and the trans temps were only at 140* so I know it’s not the trans burning up. I’m pretty sure I knocked something loose just enough with the fluid and filter that it got the solenoid acting up (according to numerous online threads it’s common.).

Help please.

I feel from my reading over the years (more on aisin but 68rfe too, that this is maybe slightly under filled or an air pocket. Maybe cool off and try again tomorrow before resorting to an extreme of dropping pan again. I have the aisin I mine and it’s a pretty finicky fill amount. Maybe not helpful but hoping to encourage another try if nothing else.

Will look at it tomorrow after letting it set. Gonna scoot the ‘79 VW to work. (Not a bad thing lol.)

Mine had the same issue, hard pop in reverse then straight to gear 4 limp mode. The accumulator plate on the side of the valve body failed letting the accumulator springs/pistons come out. It is a common and repairable issue and you may not need a new solenoid pack, or now is a good time to upgrade the valve body if you want. If it's not that and is the solenoid pack make sure you get the right one for your year and from a reputable source. As for the relearn it might be an option through your tuning hardware. I have EZ link and I can do it through there. Or you can get a bluetooth dongle and download AlfaOBD on an android or windows device, I think it was 50 bucks? It is basically a scan tool for Fiat vehicles and can do the relearn as well as a million other things. I've heard Jscan is almost as good, but I've never used it.

I got the laptop with alpha and cord I can let you try if I make it down this weekend @skyhighZJ

We just reworked the same trans I believe at the shop. Second or third try. I can't remember. One was to fully replace a burnt up unit with a "built" unit. That lasted less than 5k due to a bad converter that toasted everything all over again. Both installs involved lots of tuning and detuning of the truck. A lot of computer work line pressure gauges and settings tweaked.

Shifts great now and keeps up well with current mods and tune.

Saying all that to say we have the tech and some contacts if it comes to that. Would suck for you though to get it all the way to Statesville. If you need help let me know and I can get you with Kurt. He was a member on NC a long while back but he mostly gets his kick on two wheels again.

Anyway you cracked the plastic thread adpater the spin on filter uses?
