Heavy metal

METAL = Slayer, Kreator (Germany's Slayer), Job for a Cowboy, Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Yyrkoon, The Red Chord, The Acacia Strain, Pig Destroyer, The Manhattan Project, Between the Buried and Me, the list goes on.
between the buried and me...
BT.BAM....Thats what the close followers call them.
I know one of the guitarist's father. I think the players name is Dustin..or Dusty or something. His dad works here in Mocksville. They are getting kinda big, from what his dad says. Sound cool too. His dad played a little at a job site for us. Thats cool to see btbam mentioned on here.
And a local boy rippin' it up in the big world!

:lol:I got the Rick and Jethro post.

Anyone here ever into the local Charlotte music scene about ten years ago? Spite, 5xdown, fat tortoise butcher...Tremont Music Hall, Fat City

slayer, slipknot, killswitch engage, deicide, god dethroned, lamb of god, nightwish, hatebreed, a little atreyu shit like that

You mean the only heavy metal band to ever have a lead singer that played the flute or the one to win the first ever hard rock/metal grammy? What a crock. I was watching the show. You should have seen the face of Lars Ulrich. That just proved that the Recording Academy hasn't a clue. Look at the other nominess, Iggy Pop huh?, Janes Addiction, AC/DC, Metallica. What a total embarrasment for them.

None of these punks will know what you are talking about because some of them weren't even born yet.

so anyone know of any metal shows in nc comming up soon? i know that chimera is going to be in jacksonville sometime early december

Oh, I got it. I just didn't want to get caught posting in this thread! :poop:

Yeah, Dylan! Bring back the Old School, why doncha? My brother was down there then. We had a good friend who played in 5xdown. Helluva band! I was digging the Winston scene. Line Drive, Avail, several random hardcore bands than came and went. I used to hang out with Code 7 in their mom's garage. Does that make me old, too? And I remember when Forsyth's finest, Swift, was playing holes-in-the-wall, too. It's good to see some people still doing it, though.

"Heavy Metal" has meant different things in different eras.
Today it's that growling crap...I hate all of it.
Before, it was singers with high voices, and some gravely-voiced ones, too.

You can rag the hair-metal bands if you want, but there was more musical talent in that era than there is in the current one.

I still like to listen to some Megadeth from time to time. Older Metallica, too, but mostly Van Halen. That's hard rock, though, not heavy metal.

All I can say about Tull winning is their music is better than anything Metallica has put out in the past 3-6 years. I listen to every type of music there is. A closed minded musician ain't much of a musician so I take it all in. My roots are in Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Metallica, Testament, Pantera Down, Hendrix, SRV, but Slayer has become the number one most listened to band that I listen to for the past 4 years, why? because one of my closest friends tried to get me to listen to them for years, and about 6months before he died He finally succeded. Trivium is high on the list cause those guys are young for the thrashing they're putting down. MOTHER F@#King HANK III is the shit. Dale Watson, Unknown Hinson, Wayne Hancock if you want some real country check those guys out. And if you want to hear some real funny shit Check out Rebel Son's "Redneck Piece of White Trash"

Problem is Tull won when Ride The Lightning was out, you know back when they rocked out.

Agree on your country stuff, though I also like the Waylon, David Allen Coe, Paycheck and Cash stuff. As far as new country that most aren't listening to, if you havent give Bryan Burns a listen....

easy big guy. i got the reference and I don't consider myself that old... yet. i've just heard it about a hundred times you old fart.

Listening to Ride the Lightning right now - Metallica

Guess it's my "oldness" but,... I can't handle listening to anything that has screaming to the point that I can't understand a single word. Drums, guitar, keys and singer all competing for the lead, and it's all just jumbled.
I listen to all types of music, not bent on anyone kind though

I guess you can call me a sellout or w/e but I'm not a fan of unknown bands, I usually go with the stuff that hits the mainstream then when it gets old I move on to the next new thing :shaking:

You aren't a sellout Ricky. By definition you have to have something to begin with in order to sellout. I believe the word you were looking for was "sheep". :flipoff2:

youre right, his name is dusty. all the members are here in winston. and yes they are getting somewhat big. they are my age, all went to West Forsyth and Mt Tabor. good guys. theyve been playing for years. very talented. however i have a feeling most of the guys on this site would hate it, hah.

i am a huge local music fan. tons of local venues and signed and unsigned bands that are from or roll through NC.

Actually, although technically Ride the Lightning was out, it had been out.
Metallica's current album at the time was And Justice for All.
