24v twins build.

Theres already a post in the for sale section of some dyno sheets and pics of the truck. And theres a video on my website!

Thanks, I'll look it up. I'm looking for a 4x4 12v project truck.....Like i said, mines not fast enough so I'll need an auto!

Updates? I got those sticks in:burnout::beer: Can't wait to see this thing run.
How do you like the new injectors?

Finished rebuilding the transmission here in morganton wed, took it to rock hill that afternoon to put it in the truck. Finished about 8am. Never going to do that again. Forgot the shift linkage at home too :)rolleyes:) so built a sweet heim jointed version. Put in the adrenaline and a tc lockup switch yesterday. So far not too impressed with the adr. Took forever and three laptops to be able to update the module with the comp tune. Got it installed and the pulse monitor lights up, but nothing on the screen. Buttons work and it puts the edge to shame in the smoke dept, but really bucks/surges a lot. I can't tell what level it's on so I guess I'm just going to pull it until I can get a new monitor or put the 1000 tune back on it. Pulled the boost gauge off the mustang to use just to make sure I don't blow anything up.
Now that the truck is back here I need to talk think about the headwork again. Probably going to go with stiffer valve springs too while I'm at it.

Can't beat them for $200, I was impressed. I'm glad its not going to be my DD anymore. Its hard as hell to keep out of the skinny:D

Wait, wtf? You bought a 24v? Congrats. The monitor works now and so far I have tried almost every tune. They all have problems with bucking at partial/little throttle and surging at WOT. Though it may be my fault having my boost limited to 45psi. Honestly the edge was a far better "system" as a whole, but I do like the fact that you can update the ADR. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks. I might put the edge/juice back in. I can understand dealing with this shit as a beta tester, but I'm not... Not to mention, they no longer ship a fuel pressure sensor (the most important part) with the system even though it's advertised as integral.

Actually I bought two, need to sell one (anyone want a 5spd 99 3500?)

45psi???? I can't get mine above like 17ish . . . course mine is all stock (well . . . intake/exhaust)

You think maybe all your surging/bucking issues are due to your extra mods? Idk what forum it was that I was looking at but they had a thread about guys that had been beta testing but they said when they got the update it fixed it?

Hmmm, first I've heard of the fuel pressure thing, is it just something you have to buy extra? for the monitor to work right or what?

Sorry bout all the questions, I have never messed with a diesel b4 so I have no real idea what I'm doing other than what I read on random forums when i search on yahoo . . . stupid newb :shaking::lol:

QZilla has put out some updated programs supposedly fixing the surging probs. but hang in there, They will get it straightened out. Like Lucas said the Edge Comp Drag box is they most commonly used on 24V trucks and is proven.

The fuel pressure sensor on the QZilla stuff has been an issue for some time now and they had a new UPGRADED system that was supposed to already be released but turned out to be no better. I have it on my truck and never had any issues with the origional... Who knows.

I cant say enough about my DDP injectors, they light my turbo quick and will actually boost it 4psi over where I have the wastegate set and maintain it. My egt's are a little high but that will change when I turn the boost up, after i get the head studded.

braxton357- Nice truck! enjoy the twins, hopefully I wont be too far behind you. If you dont have your injectors yet let me know if I can help you get anything from DDP.

And I wish I could have taken you up on that offer a while back Lucas, but I was moneyless and was able to trade him some parts as well. I really do appreciate you going out of your way to help though.

That being said, I don't know what this fawking thing weighs...but I don't suggest anyone move it by themself.

Braxton,

I got the exhaust installed and it sounds great, thanks again. By-the-way what size wheels/tires are you running in the first photo?

steve

Getting closer.
Also getting pissed off at all of the events/things I'm missing and getting tired of riding a bike. This is far more fawking work than I planned.
--my camera/everything worth anything was stolen out of the truck a couple weeks back, so cell phone pics only...
Anyway...the start of porting the heads. Wasn't going to even mess with them, but the rain said otherwise. That being said, they seem to be softer than any iron ford heads I've messed with and with so much material around the valve stems and horrible casting marks...it's easy as hell to take a lot out.

Got it back together finally. Some pictures.
Find somewhere to put it.

Make a round tube fit into a square hole.

Weld some shit together...good thing the shop and welder are only 50 yds away from the truck...

It's harder than you would think to fit a 5" pipe through that little "hole" between the trans and body.

The worst part was trying to route the cold side piping...tried to keep it all as short as possible.
Still have to paint it all and put the new IC boots on.

Have only been able to drive it in the rain so far so I can't put the pedal to the floor yet.
The exhaust is quieter now with the extra turbomuffler but when the big turbo spools it sounds like a fawking jet taking off. Now I need to figure out where to set the wastegate and try to get this adrenaline working right or sell it for a smarty and put the juice back in.
