4.0L tj ebay turbo kit

I have a 258 crank and rods and a couple spare 4.0's. I've dreamed of building a stroker but the only engine work I have ever done is head gasket. I also don't have a clean shop!

Don’t be intimidated, i managed to get mine together as an idiot college student, anyone can.

Micrometer plastigauge and torquewrench is about all you need.

I’ll find the link to book with all torque specs and post it later

If you have a set of bore brushes, they're good to have. You can borrow a set from somebody (maybe even AutoZone??) if needed.

if you go down this rout make sure you use a push rod length checking tool. also, if you go with roller rockers make sure you get a spacer for the valve cover.

Useful info incoming... I pulled a turbo kit off my 4.0 dailyish tj late last year. The 4.0 runs lean so because of this you can only run a couple of psi before major issues with longevity. To do it right, youre looking at head studs, mustang injectors, basically dyno tuning cause nobody actually knows what the tune needs to be, a real wide band gauge, and converting to honda or srt4 map sensor. Plus all the turbo stuff. If you dont go with some ebay knockoff wutang shitbox turbo, id say itll be in the 3k-4k range all said and done. 10 out of 10 not worth it because LS's are a thing.

But if you want to dive into it, Id let the turbo and whatever else I have go for cheaper than it costs to take my buddies fat sister to waffle house and drive in theater for the rerelease of shrek 2.

I've seen the sister.
Would smash.

This thread has me collecting parts to stroker my 4.0
I promise you it’s worth it. Haters gonna hate, but it’s pretty dang great!

My adhd and indecisiveness about what powerplant to put into my cj has taken another turn. Now I'm considering a magnum 5.9 with the 3.9L bell to my already purchased ax15. I really want v8 noise and already have a needs rebuilt 350 but dang swap bellhousings aren't cheap. I know very little about the dodge magnum engines, what to look out for, what works well and what doesn't, are speed parts as easy to source as sbc stuff, etc. If someone wants to expand my knowledge on them it would be greatly appreciated.

Leave the internals stock. They're roller cam engines and HiPo parts ain't cheap. Add headers and a good intake and rock out. The 5.2 and 5.9 use different flywheels. Otherwise, use the 3.9 bell on your transmission. Easy swap.

So no cam. Factory grind makes good torque I guess. The plan would be an airgap intake and a 750ish 4 barra. I don't intend on keeping factory efi. I want as basic as it could have been pre-smog era. In going that route how would I manage spark? Do they have drop in distributors where I can swap in a simple hei and run it?

Why ditch the EFI and lose driveability and reliability?

The first fuel injected swap I did was a 5.9 magnum in my Yj. FWIW, I'm a dumb ass with wiring and I made it run. I'm pretty sure I won't ever own anything, other than lawn equipment, with a carb again.
If it can be done kind of simply I'm all for it. I'm solid on efi in an already existing state but a transplant, I'm not so confident. This would require a high pressure pump in the cj tank, yes?

As for your swap, was it what you wanted out of the rig? I can assemble a spicy 350 that i know I'll be OK with but gm to ax15 is pricey.
