I’m definitely all ears on possibilities. I don’t know anything about these other than it’s basically a BMW platform. Seeing that I might not make any money back on it, or very little, I might just make a toy out of it and keep it

Too many times people buy a BMW product and don't understand that the purchase price it only the beginning...and you end up having to replace the things they neglected to take care of at the recommended mileage..now you're in a hole.

There's only one way to get ANY "money back" when buying a mini (or ANY BMW product) and that's to drive it until the wheels fall off. There IS no buying one to flip. Because those are the ones that people have bought and couldn't afford to OWN one (the purchase is just the initial payment
These cars will "thousand dollar" you to DEATH. Because every part you need is $1000. Wheel speed sensor, brake rotors...doesn't matter...the PART you need to make that CEL light go out, or to make ANY light on the dash go out will cost you $1000. Great cars!! If you're not scared to drive them like intended and MAINTAIN them as intended. You need to understand the German state of mind; "The manual says it, so I DO IT" as opposed to the Japanese state of mind; "Americans will not adhere to the manual so we need to make these things idiot proof" or the Korean state of mind; "Manual? that costs too much, Make the motor out of tin foil and chewing gum and make it last till 2 miles past the warranty so they buy another one"
When you follow the maintenance schedule and use the right parts, they just keep running and you can dog them forever. But it's FAR from cheap to OWN one
Two weeks ago I replaced both the front and rear pads in my wife's 22 Cooper for 100 bucks. And the only reason it was that much is because they have the stupid wear sensor that you have to replace the turns on the light even though there's still a third of the pad left....Replace the sensor, hang it up somewhere not on the pad lolJust for the sake of
But I'm not looking forward to when the car is older and real stuff has to be replaced

I almost did that but my wife gave a very specific edict, "This is MY car. You may not modify it in any way."Replace the sensor, hang it up somewhere not on the pad lol
PADS..being the key word. As with a woman, that's the CHEAPEST routine maint PART for both

I haven’t yet. A buddy of mine has a camera I can use to look down in there, haven’t gotten it yet. But that piston is at the top of its stroke currently and I can see it’s scored at the very least
