my dd doesn't want to d anymore. or r for that matter. :(
yesterday, leaving for work, backed out of the parking spot, put it in D, took a bit to engage. pulling out onto the road, the 1-2 revved like i had it in neutral before dropping in. then seemed to do ok. then yesterday afternoon, coming off the highway, it lost completely, revved like in neutral in forward or reverse, all gears. flat towed it to the shop, and let it sit for a bit, then it would engage a little when put in gear, but not consistently.
drained the fluid, slightly dark, but not excessively black or chunky, minimal crud on the drain plug magnet, no burnt smell.
put fresh honda fluid in, it is very slow to engage and revs a lot with little movement.
rebuild time? torque converter? oh, after new fluid, there was a buzzing/whining from the torque converter area of the tranny in park with engine running.
tested linear solenoid, 5 ohms resistance across. shift solenoid, ~27.4 ohms across.
help, please?

*transmission code off the top of the case is BMXA if that helps.

the filter has become clogged with torque converter clutch. the converter has come apart because the pressure regulator valve circuit is designed wrong.
whenever the transmission is at low rpm's it strokes the pressure regulator valve closed and cuts cooler charge, the converter gets hot and the clutch comes apart.
if honda and chevy went out of business, so would i.
the whining noise is the pump starving for fluid.

Def a time for a rebuild time. Also anytime you do a rebuild also change the converter. If not all the crap caught in the converter will just go right back in the your fresh rebuilt tranny.

damn, transman, thanks for the great detail answer. gonna see what lkq will give me for it
