Anyone up on what upgrades that I can do to 03 2500 HD , I do know that it is geared 4.10 and is 4 wheel drive . Thanks for any info . :)

I'm sure there are some intake and exhaust upgrades available...

send a PM to stewartgivens (in case he doesn't see this) and ask him to post up some info on what he did with his PCM...best I recall, he sent it off, maybe to Canada, to have it reprogrammed, and it made a world of difference (he's got the 6.0L in a 1500HD)...

he followed me to Crozet a couple weeks ago, and we averaged just over 65MPH the whole way...both towing TJ's...

Greg's right - I got a re-tuned computer for mine from Wester's Garage in Canada. Did a lot of research first - chose them due to reputation and the ability for them to adjust a lot more than the handheld reprogrammers. I got the 91/93 Tune for mine (requires 91 or 93 octane gas) and had them drastically cut the torque management. Although my pickup still weighs about 6800 lbs, it is much quicker off the line now and tons better at highway acceleration.

I didn't see much improvement on gas mileage, but then I keep my foot in it. http://westers_garage.eidnet.org/ . They will ship you a new computer, and you just swap it out and send your old one back.

Cost was about $500, installation was easy. The computer is very easy to get to in these trucks, just behind the driver side headlight under the black box. Undo a couple of screws, unplug the old one, plug in the new one.

I did have to do a relearn on the CPS. It takes a special scan tool - not just a regular one. CPD automotive in Charlotte did it for me in about 15 minutes for $50.

They have a number of different tunes they can do. If you know exactly what you want they'll do a 100% custom tune for you at the same price. You can go for towing optimization, economy optimization, speed, etc. My desire was to increase acceleration but still be able to tow 7,000 lbs. I also had the speed limiter removed. (Had it to 115mph the other day and still had some room left)

What is a CPS relearn? that is a lot less expensive than I thought it was going to be . Do they recomend the other options that you needed like Exchaust, ETC? How is the Trans hold up to the power gain that you got ? sorry for all the questions , most of the guys that I know have Diesels and have no one to ask about this stuff . Drew

The CPS relearn is just a process where the computer learns what position the crankshaft is in - nothing mechanical.

Wester's can talk to you about those other modifications, but you would want to have them done prior to getting the new computer, as he adjusts it for you configuration. For example, I had to tell them I have an AIRAID cold air kit, stock exaust, etc. Transmission is fine. Its the same one they put in the SS trucks and Westers does a lot of hot tunes for them as well. Poke around the web on some of the GM truck forums - there's a lot of info out there.

I definitely suggest putting a cold air kit on first, cheap way to get some horsepower.

The 6.0 is part of the LSx series of engines all built off the same basic platform (except the new LS2 based). There are TONS of mods available from something as simple as an intake right on up to a twin turbo 408 CI set up turning 1000 RWHP. The sky or your wallet :D is the limit.

Here is a good site to get you started:

Oh and if you slap a shift kit in that 4L80E, your tranny will hold up to years of abuse and power.
