04 tacoma. 3.4l v6. 70k

1wk ago:
started off driving to work one morning with the battery light on, radio cut off, abs light came on, then truck shut off. finally got it to work and replaced the alternator. while driving the truck home battery light cut off.

yesterday:
battery light came back on. truck off battery put out 12.59v, truck running put out 12.31v, later that night when i got home truck put out 11.79v with the alternator putting out 1.30v.

today:
replaced the alternator, battery light still on. battery measured 11.60v, alternator putting out 1.05v. so i charged the battery and drove home. now at a stoplight in drive the battery light would flicker, as soon as i would accelerate it would fully light up. got home and put the truck in park at idle and battery light stayed fully illuminated. put it in gear while at idle the battery light would flicker.

ive checked the fuses, and everything with alternator is hooked up correctly, and traced wires.maybe i overlooked a blown fuse? anybody???

Where did you buy the alternator? Does it have 12v coming in one of the small wires in the plug? Where are you checking for alternator output, back of alternator or the battery?

bought both alt's from advance auto remanufactured. i havent checked plug output, but i checked the output on the side of alt (where alt runs to the battery) and its putting out 1-2v. i think imma try a brand new oem alt. , and im running a redtop optima as well.

anybody got any suggestions or recomendations?

Foot the bill and go to Toyota. Reman alternators are worthless!!!! Autozone, Advance, Oriellys, Napa, they all suck. Unless you like changing alternators. It's a crap shoot whether or not you get a good one. I went through 3 on my yota and finally had a custom GM 1 wire made for it. (But I also needed extra power for the AC unit.) They may even put out 14 volts, but they won't put out any amps with a load on it.

new toyota alt. another new redtop optima battery. replaced fuses. light is still on. but battery light flickers when truck is in Drive sitting still at idle. anymore suggestions/ recommendations?

Loose connections? Most probably a ground. Check the one from the engine to the body, and battery negative to the fender.

my 03 does something similar i can have a perfect battery and perfect alt. but it will come up reading a dead cell and not start at all. most times my only problem is connection. new clamps, maybe follow the leads and check everything out... and that negative to the fender is a sure thing too.
