Got me a new dd but hate the tail high look. I'm only 5'7" and I have trouble getting in the bed with the tailgate down. I don't tow anything more than a lawnmower. Bought some shorter shackles and would also like to remove the overload leafs which would lower it an additional 3/4". My question is, can I back off the center pin nut without compressing the springs or is there a lot of stored energy in them where I will have to clamp them before removing the pin?
