I just got a 05 jeep. I want to go with 33's. I've looked at the4" lifts and also the 3" coil spacers. It anit going to be wheeled hard. I was wondering if anyone has used the spacers before? Do they allow good flex with the stock springs? I'm also going to post in the want to buy section
if anyone has a kit for sell. Thanks

the lift on my 2001 tj (same as yours) is very simple and I did it on the cheap. It works and works good for the wheeling I do. I have 1.75 pucks that I purchased off ebay and stock rubicon springs and shocks.I've netted 2.5 to 3 inches of lift and have roughly 100 dollars in it. I run 31s on her but if you look at the wheel well openings,I have plenty of room for 33s. This has worked for me the last 8 years.

I run 2'' spacers on my stock TJ w/ 33 x 10.5's. There is no way I would run 12.5's. The 10.5s rub a little at full lock when flexing.

Ok. Did u go with lca's to or or still stock? How high can i go before i need a pittman arm drop? Also is there any pictures of ur jeep on here?
Suspension is stock except the 1.75 pucks. No lca's or drop pitman arm.Since I wheel a Willys as my trail rig,the wrangler gets trail use infrequently so there are no photos of her working. The wrangler is my DD and it has 184,000 miles with most of that on the lift I described.
One last point about my setup.I am changing axles to get away from 3.08 to 3.73s.Since the axles are completely coming out,it's time to do maintanance on bushings, hubs, and such.Right now would be time to change my lift if it was needed.I'm just changing my control arms, springs, shocks,to 0mile stock rubi unlimited parts scored for free from a local tire store that had installed a lift kit for a guy. If I had any limitations, right now would be when I would address them.I just be damned if I would spend the 500 dollars on a lift to just gain the few inches to run 33s.Thirty five and larger I see it but not for 33s.

Yea $500 is lot. I checked out a jeep same as mine with a 4" superlift running33`s. But looks like 38's could fit. I'm leaning to a 3" the more i think of it. Maybe go with the new lca's to. Could I just buy the 3" springs and be safe togo. What about brake lines? Do they need to be extended

what has you thinking you need lca's? I didn't extend my brake lines. You might have to lower your skid plate an inch but that can be taken care of when you do a SYE later on.

Also the transfercase drop? Are u really lowering the case?
you are lowering the skid plate thus lowering the transfercase and putting the powertrain at a slight angle. The rear driveshafts are so short that vibrations arise with lifts. At 1.75 with pucks,I didn't need to do it but when I put the rubi springs in,I developed rear vibs.I made spacers to drop the skid plate 1 inch and thus it took out the vibs.A "slip yoke eliminator" will let you have a longer rear shaft so you can put your skid back up where it belongs.

Ok thanks for helping out so far guys. I think I'm going to do the 3.25" lift from roughcountry. My cousin has the same lift but on a 2010 jk with35's .it works pretty good on and offroad.

Ok thanks. Also I've been trying to find out if stock 2010 jk springs would fit and if there would be any gain in lift.

JK and TJ are completely different
The JK springs won't fit, and the lift for a JK is different.

:)

that said, 3" lift would be enough to let you run 33s, and that's what I ran for several years with the transfer case drop.

My 2.5in rough country lift fits 33's with no problem i only get a slight amount of rubbing on the front flares at full flex with the swaybar disconnected. I run a 15x8 wheel with 3.625 back spacing, make sure when or if you install a transfer case drop that the wiring harness behind the valve cover has enough clearance, i installed mine but only ran it for a couple weeks cause i didn't really need, after the lift settled i replaced both rear u-joints and haven't any vibration and its been almost four years and i drive it daily.

Put a 4inch Rough Country 2.0 kit on my wifes TJ with 35 inch KM IIs Had to put a Slip Yoke eliminator in an a CV drive shaft.
So lift, shaft, Slip yoke an 1K later its fine.

Just start with a 2" day star blocks, a decent set of shocks and a 1 in body. You will be set for 33's. It's about $40 a pair for the blocks $40 a peice for the shocks from pro comp and $150 for the 1" day star body lift that replaces your factory bushings. Keep it to 2" of suspension and you won't need a drop pitman arm, transfercase drop, or sye and driveshaft. Anything above 3" of suspension and you need to plan on at least one, if not all of those things. Vibes are hit or miss on tj's up to the 4" mark, but you need to plan on the worst case scenario so your not surprised when you spend another $1200 on parts and labor to do an sye and d-shaft.

I've went with a roughcountry 2.5" lift. The back shocks suck but the rest of the is great. Got some death woobel to address some time. Hopefully get my 33's on this week.
